Assembly

ArkuEdge™ 3.0mm Assembly Instructions

Clean Joins. Fast Assembly. No Welding Required.

Each 3.0mm ArkuEdge™ length is supplied with a connector plate for quick, secure joining with a professional finish.

Joining Edging Lengths

1. Position the Joiner Plate

Place the joiner plate behind the two edging lengths, ensuring both pieces sit flush along the seam.

2. Clamp Securely

Use wide-brim vice grips to hold the sections firmly together for a solid, stable connection.

3. Drill Pilot Holes

With the supplied #11 drill bit, drill through both layers approximately 15mm in from the seam.

Rivet Guide:

  • 80–280mm high edging: One hole at the top and one at the bottom.
  • 380–580mm high edging: In addition to top and bottom, add horizontal rivets approx. every 100mm along the seam.

4. Install Rivets

Load the rivet gun with a supplied rivet, insert into each hole, and fasten until the rivet pops. Repeat for all pilot holes.

5. Remove Clamps

Once all rivets are in place, remove the vice grips. Your edging is now securely joined and ready for installation.

Installing Stakes

To ensure stability, we recommend a minimum of 3 stakes per 2.4m length:

  • One stake 100mm in from each end
  • One stake in the middle

Installation Steps:

  1. Position the stake flush behind the edging.
  2. Clamp tightly with vice grips.
  3. Drill pilot holes through both stake and edging (follow same guide as above).
  4. Insert rivets and fasten securely.

What’s Included:

  • Connector Plates (1 per join)
  • Rivets
  • #11 Drill Bit

Optional Add-On:

  • Rivet Gun (available in the ArkuEdge™ Assembly Kit)

Easy to Cut. Simple to Install.

Each length can be trimmed to size using an angle grinder, making on-site adjustments quick and precise.

FAQ

How long are the edging lengths?
All ArkuEdge lengths are standard at 2.4 metres. If you require a custom size, contact us directly — we’re happy to fabricate to suit your project.

I’ve received my steel – it doesn’t look rusted.
This is a common misunderstanding. Corten steel arrives in a silver-grey tone and may appear similar to galvanised or ZAM-coated steel at first glance.

Why doesn’t my Corten steel arrive pre-rusted?
Corten is designed to rust naturally over time. Expect a gradual patina to develop over several weeks to a few months, depending on local weather conditions.

  • More rain = faster rusting
  • More sun = slower rusting
  • To speed up the process:
Spray with vinegar and water (50/50 mix) to strip the oily residue and kick-start oxidation. Hose it down regularly for faster results.

Where does ArkuEdge get its strength from when installed?
ArkuEdge is engineered differently — built for both flexibility and toughness without the bulky weight.

Here’s what sets it apart:

  • Smart Stake & Joiner System
Designed as a complete system, not an afterthought. Our stakes and connectors lock each length into place for a rock-solid finish — no bowing, no shifting.
  • Set It Right, and It Stays Right
Our recommended install method — burying ⅓ of the height into the ground — locks the edging in firmly, distributing pressure evenly across curves, slopes, and flat runs.

This clever combo means ArkuEdge doesn’t need to be thick and heavy to be strong. It’s easier to shape, faster to install, and tough enough to last — because strength should be smart, not stubborn.

Do I need special tools to install ArkuEdge?

No specialist tools required — most of what you need is probably already in your shed or ute. Here’s what we recommend for a smooth, professional install:

  • Rubber Mallet – Tap edging into place without damaging the finish
  • Drill
  • Tape Measure – For accurate spacing and layout
  • Rivet Gun – Used to secure stakes and joiners in place
  • #11 Drill Bit - Used to pre-drill pilot hole for rivet insertion
  • Wide-Brimmed Vice Grip – Helps hold components steady while drilling and fixing
  • String Line / Chalk / Marking Paint – Essential for planning straight runs and curves
  • Angle Grinder – For trimming lengths on-site (always wear eye protection)
  • Spade, Pick Axe, or Hand Mattock – Loosen compacted soil before installation so the edging beds in securely. Well-prepped ground also promotes better plant health around the borders.
  • Safety Gear – Gloves, protective eyewear, and any PPE suited to the tools you're using are strongly advised.

1.6mm corten steel garden edging used to define garden beds and pathways, offering a durable, weather-resistant, and low-maintenance landscaping solution.

What You'll Love About ArkuEdge

Designed with Safety in Mind

Metal edging is a great choice for clean lines and long-lasting structure — but not all edging is created equal when it comes to safety.

Some traditional products can leave sharp or exposed edges right at kid or pet level. Not ours.

ArkuEdge features a rolled top edge on all 1.6mm profiles, making it safer for little hands, paws, and curious explorers.

So you get the durability and finish you want — without compromising on safety.

Smart, tough, and family-friendly

Easy to Assemble

Pre-Drilled & Easy to Install
All ArkuEdge comes pre-drilled, making installation fast and straightforward.
Just line up the holes and secure using the supplied fixings or your preferred fixing — no fuss, no guesswork. Clean lines, solid results.

Seamless, Concealed Fixings
Our joiner plates slide neatly under the rolled edge for a hidden connection, and our stakes do the same — giving you a strong hold without disrupting the look of your edge.

Working Out Your Edging Qty

How Much ArkuEdge Do You Actually Need? Let’s Break It Down.

Step 1: Grab your tape measure.
Measure the full length of your garden beds. Add all those measurements together — that’s your total lineal metres.

Step 2: Divide by 2.4.
Our edging comes in 2.4m lengths. So if you’ve got, say, 10m of garden beds:
10 ÷ 2.4 = 4.16
Round up — always. You’ll need 5 lengths.

Now, Let’s Talk Joiners.

Straight Joiners
We supply these at no extra cost to you.

Corner Joiners – Inside vs Outside

  • Need a 90° or 45° corner? Here’s how to tell what kind:
  • Stand at your corner.
  • If the edging runs away from you in both directions — it’s an outside corner.
  • If it’s coming back towards you — you’ll need an inside corner.
  • Still stuck? Don’t stress — we’ll help you sort it out.

Do I Need Pegs?
If your edging finishes against a wall, fence, or hard surface — pegs are the go-to for a clean, secure finish.
Our 3mm steel pegs are designed specifically for ArkuEdge and help lock your layout in place.

Pegs are sold separately, and we recommend 3 stakes per 2.4m length of edging to keep everything firm and straight, especially over time as soil settles or shifts.

To work out how many pegs you need:
Use the same method as working out your edging.
Total up your garden bed lengths and divide by 2.4 — then multiply that result by 3.

Example:
If you have 24 lineal metres of edging:
24 ÷ 2.4 = 10 lengths
10 × 3 = 30 pegs recommended

Doing curves, tight shapes, or working on a slope? Consider adding a few extras to be safe.
Still unsure? Send us your layout — we’ll happily help you work it out.

Still Not Sure? Draw It!
Seriously. Sketch your garden, snap a pic, and send it through.

Once you approve the quote, click to pay — and a few days later, your custom pallet of edging will be on its way, ready for install.

Joiners Included - No Extra Fuss

Unlike other edging systems that make you purchase connectors separately, ArkuEdge includes joiner plates and fixings with every order.

That means one less thing to remember, and a much faster install. Just line up the pre-drilled holes, secure with the supplied rivets, and you’re on your way.

Pegs are sold separately — but for straight runs, you may not need them at all. Need help working out what’s required? Just ask — we’re here to help.

Can ArkuEdge Handle Curves?

Sure can. ArkuEdge is built tough, but it still has the flexibility to follow gentle curves in your garden design.
The rolled top adds strength, but if you’re working with a tight bend, you can make a few shallow relief cuts on the back of the roll to help it flex.

Need something sharper? We can pre-roll edging to your specs in-house. That’s the beauty of buying direct from the people who actually make it — custom work is part of what we do.

What If I Want to Edge Around a Tree?
Circles? No problem.
Peg one end in place and gently bend the edging around the tree, securing it with stakes as you go. Once the shape’s set, tap the edging into the ground and remove any extras.

Want something quicker? Our pre-rolled ArkuRings come in a range of sizes and are perfect for clean, circular installs.
Need a custom diameter? Just get in touch — we’ll get you sorted.

Corten - Weathering Steel

Crafted from 1.6mm or 3.0mm Corten Weathering Steel, ArkuEdge is built to age beautifully. Corten is a specialty steel designed to form a stable, rust-like patina when exposed to the elements. This isn’t just surface rust — the patina acts as a protective barrier, sealing the steel from moisture and oxygen to prevent deeper corrosion.

No need for painting or sealing — over time, Corten develops that rich, earthy tone that blends seamlessly into natural landscapes. It’s a favourite among architects and landscapers for its low maintenance, long life, and organic look.

We use Australian Made Corten Steel, which means you’re getting serious strength — ideal for structural integrity in tough outdoor conditions.
Durable. Timeless. Aussie-tough.
